Far and away my most played album of the year notching up a pretty impressive 40(ish) plays per track, John Darnielle has produced something quite special. As familiar and comforting as you can hope for from the first listen this is a record worth celebrating. If this had been the only musical release of 2008, I’d still have been a happy man.
